The power to my whole neighborhood went down yesterday for about 1 minute. Everything seemed fine after that but when I got up this morning the power to my comp was not there. Everything plugged into the powerstrip is still working (monitor, alarm clock) so I am assuming its the power supply to my comp that frizzle fried. I dont know how to install a power supply so it looks like im going to be gone untill I can get a new comp, or at least this is what im thinking right now. Just wanted to inform Beast and Tay of my situation and let everybody else know that Im bummin but will be back in the saddle...just dont know when

Power supplies are super easy to replace and usually fairly cheap to replace on a computer; at the very least, cheap enough that it's not worth buying a whole new computer (think $80 versus $2,000). Open up your computer, see what "watt" power supply you are using and then go buy it from your local Frys, Best Buy, etc. There will be directions inside the box and trust me, it's super duper easy. -- "I don't have an ego, I just love how awesome I am." If you don't know much about computers/power supplies, the easiest thing you could do is remove the power supply (4 screws and a couple of power connectors) and take it in to the store with you. Someone there should be able to get you a new one that can handle the same load and has the same power connectors. The connectors may vary based on motherboard and newer PCI-E video cards need a special power connector too. Once you get the power supply home you just plug it in to the same spots you unplugged the other one from. Thank you for your responses Tay and Dolphy! Dave is going to help me out later tonight after work with hooking up the new power supply. Ive never had to do this so im a little scared but think I might be online tonight....if the power supply is not the issue then it will be at least a couple of weeks before im financially available to purchase a new comp.
