#Loot Rules

These rules are subject to change based on guild progression.

5 Man Groups

Overview:
BOE = Need before Greed
BOP = Need before Pass, then roll on shard

Overall Rules:
[1] If it is an obvious upgrade to the character you are currently playing, then you "need" the item.
[2] Every grouping is based on it's current attendees. If it's an upgrade for one of your alt characters and the toon is not currently in the group, too bad. Take him/her on a run and get the gear on it's own merit. You will NEVER need on an item that you cannot currently use and that is not an upgrade unless previously agreed upon prior to the looting.
[3] All items received from a "need" roll must immediately be equipped, learned, etc to avoid the impression of a ninja loot. Exceptions to this are weapons that are an upgrade but your skill is not high enough and may be a detriment to the current grouping as well as gear that when not enchanted/gemmed would be a downgrade from your current gear, again being a detriment to the current grouping. This must be stated prior to rolling need.

Bind on Equip:
These items will ALWAYS be greeded on UNLESS it is an upgrade. Upgrades are a need roll. Because they are BOE, everyone has a chance to make money off of the item so they "greed" on the item. However, a member's (and subsequently, the guild's) need to upgrade their gear is much greater than another member's need to make money.

Bind on Pickup (class/skill specific):
These items will ALWAYS be passed on UNLESS it is an obvious upgrade. We call this rule the "need before pass" rule. If you need the item, you will roll need. If you do not, you will pass.
Everyone Passes: If everyone has passed, the designated enchanter will roll need and D/E the item(s). All members will do a /roll. The highest /roll gets the mats. If there are more than 1 set of mats, we will go down the list of /roll from highest to lowest with the highest choosing which mats he wants, etc.
Exceptions: The only exception to this rule is if you are in a group that does not include an enchanter. At that time, the same rules apply as the BOE rules, Need Before Greed.

Bind on Pickup (non specific):
Some items are not specific to any particular player type or skill. These are the items that generally cause havoc in guilds. Our stance on these items is that we will discuss quickly regarding these items and then the same need/greed rules apply. If there is disagreement, the highest ranking officer (or group leader if no officers are present) will make the decision as to which members should roll need/greed and that will be the end of the discussion. If there is too much discord over an item, the item will be passed by all and disenchanted so as to keep the raid moving and everyone can cry about it later on the forums.

10 Man Raids

When in a raid, the designated Raid Leader (RL) will set Master Looter and change the loot type to "Group Loot, Epic" (or appropriate rarity level based on the current raid's needs). This gives everyone a somewhat fair (although a bit random) chance of picking up BOE items that they may sell, disenchant, or (if they truly have a guild/group mindset) give to another guildie who may have a need for the item. It also allows the Master Looter to see any random BOE/BOP epic items that may drop and assign it to the most appropriate person.

General Raid Loot Policy = 1 Epic, 1 Recipe, 1 Set Piece per raid reset.
Exception: More than one Item - The obvious exception to this would be in the case where a raid attendee has already received an epic item or recipe and another dropped that NO ONE ELSE can use nor wants. In this case, the RL will decide if the item is an upgrade or can/will be used for an off-spec. If so, the RL *can* assign the item to the attendee *or* decide to shard the item and allow all attendees to roll on the shard(s). KoA RLs know that we recommend the item be assigned to the attendee in order to assist in gear progression/upgrades for the benefit of the guild but there may be factors particular to the current raid which might preclude the RL from doing so. This is at the discretion of the RL at the time and any disputes will be held privately between the RL, Guild Leader, and any disputing parties *after* the raid completion. To sum it up: Loot is Cool, but the Raid Rules. The raid WILL go on.
Exception: Recipes - In the case where a recipe drops that no one in the current raid can use, the recipe will be sent to the guild bank.
